I have been a licensed home inspector since 2014 and have worked exclusively for HouseMaster ever since. I always like to tell the story of how I got into this business. When my daughter bought her first house, she booked an inspection with HouseMaster, and Butch Upton was scheduled to do it. My daughter asked me to go, which of course I did. Butch and I immediately hit it off, and, long story short, before long I was in training to get my license. Having been a licensed home builder in Texas and a construction manager for a couple of big home builders in Charlotte, my route to licensure was not too tough. I like to tell all my clients that I remember how little I really knew then about home inspections, and now I think “What would I want my daughter to know about this house?”, and that’s what I try to pass on to them every single inspection I do. I find inspecting to be extremely gratifying, particularly for young individuals and couples who are first time home buyers. Most of my working life has been involved with construction and related work. I was a custom home builder as well as a licensed real estate broker in Texas for 10 years, then a senior construction manager in Charlotte for about 15 years. I also have owned and operated a high end custom cabinet and furniture business. Butch and I are currently partners in PatchMaster Charlotte, a successful drywall repair business. I have a BS degree from Virginia Tech in Industrial Arts Education, and I’m a Vietnam era veteran of the US Army, having attained the rank of Captain.

In my spare time, I enjoy bass fishing, and spending time with my family, including 6 grandchildren.
